A few of us are heading to Cheat Fest today. Wayne and I are leaving at 7 AM and a group of 8 more leaving later in the day. The weather forecast is rain until Saturday then partly cloudy and warmer (60 and 70s) on Saturday and Sunday. We'll be running the Cheat canyon and Big Sandy. Check out the fun http://cheatfest.org/

10 CWA paddlers went to Cheat Fest. The water on the Cheat was at 10,000 cfs. Too big to run. So we looked for other rivers to run on Friday. We decided on the Laurel Fork of the Cheat. It never gets enough rain to run but we were lucky it was at 1.5 ft, a perfect level. The river is one continuous class II III run for 10+ miles. There is a class V waterfall at mile 5.5 that most of us walked. Joe and the local boy in a cataraft, did the falls. The cataraft was too big to portage so he had no choice. (Still can't remember his name:-)
