Winter 2023 Whitewater Pool Session

Location:             Joliet YMCA – Galowich
                              749 Houbolt Road
                              Joliet, IL 60431

Description: This pool session is an introduction to the basics of whitewater kayaking. It will be conducted in whitewater kayaks using spray skirts, which are provided. This multi-day course is based on the American Canoe Association (ACA) “Level 2: Essentials of River Kayaking” and “Kayak Rolling” syllabi modified for the pool and specific to whitewater boating and led by qualified coaches. Each session will consist of a classroom portion and a pool portion for a total of approximately 14 to 16 hours of instruction. Upon successful completion the student is eligible to continue training in closed-deck whitewater kayaks with skirts in the Beginner series of classes.

Dates:  Consecutive Sundays beginning January 22, 2023 and ending March 19, 2023, with the exception of Sunday, February 12, 2023.

Times:   Noon to 2pm

Capacity:   Minimum: 4 Maximum: 10
