The Army Corp of Engineers releases water into the Gauley River in West Virginia for six weekends each fall, generally from Friday through Monday. The releases are about 2800 CFS.  There are two main sections, the Upper and the Lower. The Lower is the easier section, but it is still a very solid big water class 4 run in a remote gorge. It's about 13 miles long with many big rapids. I plan to head out Thursday evening of the second release weekend (G2) and try to get three or four days on the water. Often on the final day we run the nearby New River Gorge because it's a much shorter run and we can get on the road home quite a bit earlier. Depending on the group and how I'm boating I might be interested in a day on the Upper Gauley (class 4+/5) or other runs if there is rain.

Anyone who wants to come with should have very solid boating skills. I don't mind showing people the lines, but I can't help you hit them. If you're interested but unsure, reply and we can talk it over.
